There was a surprise result in Gold Coast where eleventh ranked Rollers (7-9) won against higher ranked South West Metro Pirates (8-8) 88-71 on Friday. Rollers forced 22 South West Metro Pirates turnovers. The former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-96, college: Nebraska) scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Tidjane Diop (203-90, college: Seattle) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Nigerian-American guard Princeton Onwas (198-93, college: San Jose St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and center Tyrell Harrison (213-99) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rollers moved-up to tenth place in League. Loser South West Metro Pirates keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Rollers will face Toowoomba Mountaineers (#11) at home in the next round.
