Regular Season Round 21: NGC Seahawks - Sunshine CR 94-72

Not a big story in a game in Runaway Bay where 10th ranked Sunshine CR (7-10) was rolled over by eighth ranked Seahawks (9-8) 94-72 on Saturday. Seahawks made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Seahawks outrebounded Sunshine CR 47-30 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Casey Samuels (182-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Seahawks players scored in double figures. Seahawks' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Carlie Smith with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Leah Scott (183-93, college: Marshall) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Newly promoted Seahawks maintains eighth place in League with 9-8 record. Loser Sunshine CR keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Seahawks will face higher ranked Brisbane Spartans (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sunshine CR will play against Brisbane Spartans (#3) and hope to win that game.
