Regular Season Round 21: SD Spartans - Sunshine CP 92-75

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Sunshine CP (12-4) against fifth ranked Brisbane Spartans (12-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Sunshine CP was defeated by Brisbane Spartans in Brisbane 92-75. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Brisbane Spartans's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-12 extending their advantage to 17 points. Brisbane Spartans outrebounded Sunshine CP 42-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU) nailed 23 points for the winning side and her fellow American import swingman Aja Parham (183-84, college: Boston Coll.) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) added 31 points and 5 assists respectively for Sunshine CP in the defeat. Brisbane Spartans moved-up to third place in League. Sunshine CP at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Brisbane Spartans will play against Seahawks (#8) in Runaway Bay in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sunshine CP will play on the road against Dolphins in Cairns and hopes to get back on the winning track.
