Leader Newcastle Hunters recorded the seventeenth victory. This time they crushed 7th ranked Maitland Mustangs (8-12) 91-66 in Broadmeadow. The game without a history. Newcastle Hunters led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a quality performance for American guard Austin Thornton (195-88, college: Michigan St.) who led the winners and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Sharif Watson (198-93, college: Ariz.Christian) accounted for 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Terrell Turner came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Jack Edwards added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Maitland Mustangs in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newcastle Hunters maintains first place in League with 17-3 record. Maitland Mustangs at the other side keep the seventh position with 12 games lost.
