Regular Season Round 25: Hefei - Hunan 90-105

There was no surprise in Nanjin where 14th ranked Hefei (2-21) was defeated by second ranked Hunan (19-4) 105-90. The game was mostly controlled by Hunan. Hefei was better in third quarter 30-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hunan won last quarter 32-19. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Center JunQi Jiang (202-90) nailed 28 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) accounted for 11 points and 12 rebounds. Hunan's coach Moon Yoong Hwang allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds and the other American import guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) added 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Hefei in the defeat. Five Hunan and four Hefei players scored in double figures. Hunan maintains second place with 19-4 record having just two points less than leader Shaanxi X. Hefei lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. Hunan's next round opponent will be Anhui (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. Hefei will play against Guangxi (#4) and hope to win that game.
