Rubair shot 24 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Univ. Santa Cruz only scored eight points from the stripe. It was an exceptional evening for Venezuelan guard Gregory Curvelo (190-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Venezuelan guard Reimer Machado (185-89) accounted for 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Rubair's coach Jorge Montes used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Spanish-American forward Duane James (196-83, college: Binghamton) came up with 30 points and 9 rebounds and Oscar Barrancos (-98) added 20 points respectively for Univ. Santa Cruz in the defeat. Rubair moved-up to second place. Univ. Santa Cruz at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with eight games lost.
