Bottom-ranked America (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-52 loss to fifth ranked Paulistano (2-1) in Rio Preto. Paulistano outrebounded America 61-41 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by America helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International Leonardo Meindl (201-93) notched 13 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and international swingman Antonio Ferreira (200-94) supported him with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Even 7 points and 14 rebounds by center Ygor Viana (208-86) did not help to save the game for America. Power forward Willian Pessoa (202-86) added 10 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paulistano moved-up to fourth place, which they share with L.Sorocaba and Sao Jose. America at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Paulistano's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Vivo/Franca.
