Regular Season Round 27: Fujian - Hefei 117-112

Rather predictable result in Fuzhou where tenth ranked Fujian (12-13) defeated 14th ranked Hefei (2-23) 117-112 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Fujian made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Fujian had a 40-29 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Antoine Mason (191-92, college: Auburn) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Swingman Wenbo Yang (196-90) helped adding 29 points and 4 assists. Fujian's coach Kaihua Liu used entire bench in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the other American import center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Five Hefei players scored in double figures. Fujian moved-up to ninth place. Hefei lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 23 games lost. Fujian will face league's second-placed Anhui at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hefei will play against Jiangsu (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
