Regular Season Round 18: Javon Phenoms - A1 Challenge 53-52

A very close game took place in between Javon Phenoms and A1 Challenge. Ninth ranked Javon Phenoms (4-12) got a very close home victory over higher ranked A1 Challenge (11-4). Javon Phenoms managed to escape with a 1-point win 53-52 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Javon Phenoms forced 23 A1 Challenge turnovers and had a 42-29 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Ruth Atuheirwe had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Makanga Joan (-98) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was P Abey with 24 points and 9 rebounds and forward Brenda Nakitende (-94) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. A1 Challenge's coach Eddy Oumo tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Javon Phenoms moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Angels. Loser A1 Challenge keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Javon Phenoms will meet higher ranked Nkumba LM (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. A1 Challenge's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena UMU Ravens.
