Piratas can celebrate their first win this season after one consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Riobamba, where they defeated Leones (0-2) 84-77. Piratas shot 66.7 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Piratas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-91) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Piratas players scored in double figures. American guard Brachon Griffin (185-92, college: Elizabeth City, agency: SDJ Sports) replied with 18 points and 6 assists and the former international guard William-Daniel Guayaquil (183-93) added 19 points in the effort for Leones. Piratas (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with ABC. Leones at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Piratas will play against league's second-placed Iccan in Guayaquil in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leones will play on the road against the league's leader Barcelona (#1) in Guayaquil and hope to get finally their first victory.
