Regular Season Round 12: Calero - Vikingos 124-64
Date: August 15, 2018
Libobasque top team - Calero (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Vikingos (2-8) in Potosi 124-64. Calero dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Vikingos' 30. They outrebounded Vikingos 55-26 including a 43-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Calero shot the lights out from three nailing 20 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Vikingos' players. The winners were led by American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import swingman Mike Liabo (198-91, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Liabo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Calero's coach Giovanny Vargas felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 37 points (!!!) and 4 steals by Deybid Gil did not help to save the game for Vikingos. American guard Prince Samuels (190, college: Gloucester CC) added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Calero have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-1 record. Vikingos lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Calero will play against Carl A-Z (#4) in Oruro in the next round. Vikingos will play at home against the league's second-placed CAN Oruro and hope to get back on the winning track.
