Very important is a road loss of second ranked Iccan (2-1) against sixth ranked Piratas (2-1) on Friday night. Visiting Iccan was defeated by Piratas in a tough game in Ibarra 69-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Iccan. Spanish Adriano Barrera (-92) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 assists for the winners and American power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St., agency: DTMones) chipped in 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Colombian-Venezuelan swingman Cesar Silva (190-81) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) scored 19 points. Piratas moved-up to third place, which they share with Portoviejo and Iccan. Piratas will play against Juvenil (#6) in Vinces in the next round. Iccan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Guayaquil Barcelona.
