Regular Season Round 5: ABC - Juvenil 48-73

Juvenil's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Santo Domingo, where they outplayed ABC (1-2) 73-48. The game was mostly controlled by Juvenil. ABC was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to ABC's 20. They outrebounded ABC 41-22 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Randy Phillips (203-95, college: Radford) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Paul Marigney (191-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Desmond Lee (193-90, college: NC State) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Marco Cuadros (-97) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Juvenil left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Guerreros and ABC. Juvenil's next round opponent will be higher ranked Piratas (#4) in Ibarra and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
