There was no surprise when 5th ranked Univ. Santa Cruz (3-9) was crushed on the road by third ranked Pichincha (6-6) 113-42 on Monday. Pichincha dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Univ. Santa Cruz's 16. They outrebounded Univ. Santa Cruz 53-26 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pichincha looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Univ. Santa Cruz's players. International forward Luis Choque (196-97) fired 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Jose Choque (-98) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
