Very significant was Panteras' (1-0) victory against Toros (0-1) 73-68. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 41-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Panteras shot 29 for 47 from the free-throw line, while Toros only scored eight points from the stripe. Puerto Rican guard Jorge Matos (185-92) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Miguel Gotti (203-90, college: W.Nebraska CC) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Carlos Hoy (192-81) produced 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and Gil Atencio (202-96, college: St.Clair) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for lost side.
