Regular Season Round 1: Cholet - Strasbourg 75-112

An interesting game took place in Cholet where Cholet Basket (0-1) was upset on its own court by SIG Strasbourg (1-0) 112-75 on Saturday. SIG Strasbourg dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Cholet Basket's 40. They outrebounded Cholet Basket 46-20 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. SIG Strasbourg looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Cholet Basket's players. Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and American point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) chipped in 10 points and 8 assists. SIG Strasbourg's coach Vincent Collet felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side the former international swingman Pape Sy (198-88, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) scored 14 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SIG Strasbourg will face Le Portel (#15) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cholet Basket will play against Le Mans (#14) and hope to win that game.
