Regular Season Round 1: Monaco - ASVEL 92-80

Monaco used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Villeurbanne 92-80 on Sunday night. Monaco dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to ASVEL's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Monaco made 7 blocks. Guard Kevin Cham (189-98, college: High School) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners and forward Hugo Voulfor (197-98) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). At the losing side guard Matthew Strazel (181-2) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Junior Ouattara (190-0) scored 23 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monaco will face Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ASVEL will play against Antibes (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
