Regular Season Round 2: Le Portel - Strasbourg 82-79

There was a minor upset when SIG Strasbourg (1-1) was edged on the road by Le Portel (1-1) 82-79 on Wednesday. Le Portel looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. SIG Strasbourg was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (203-85) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-86, college: Elizabeth City) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists. American forward Mardy Collins (196-84, college: Temple) produced 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Le Portel and four SIG Strasbourg players scored in double figures. SIG Strasbourg's coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Le Portel will face Limoges CSP Elite (#9) at home in the next round. SIG Strasbourg will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#18) and hope to win that game.
