Regular Season Round 1: Aomori Watts - Toyotsu FE 67-81

An interesting game was also tough home loss of Aomori Watts in a game versus undefeated Toyotsu FE (#6) 81-67. Toyotsu FE outrebounded Aomori Watts 44-30 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) accounted for 17 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Toyotsu FE's coach Ryuji Watanabe used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Cullen Russo (206-94, college: Fresno St.) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Toshio Kan (184-94) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Aomori Watts in the defeat. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. Toyotsu FE will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aomori Watts will play again against Toyotsu FE (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
