Regular Season Round 2: Amazonas - Atletico 59-53

The biggest surprise of round 2 in LPB took place in where host Amazonas (2-1) beat Atletico (2-1) 59-53 on Sunday evening. Amazonas forced 25 Atletico turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Lirieth Gonzalez (170-1) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Maria Garcia chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Amazonas players scored in double figures. Center Ericka Gonzalez produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American Laura Brunet (170, college: Niagara) added 25 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atletico will play next round against strong Panteras trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Amazonas will try to continue on its current victory against Aguilas at home.
