Regular Season Round 1: Sitra - Al-Riffa 39-68
Date: October 1, 2018
Another exciting game was between Al-Riffa and Sitra where Al-Riffa (1-0) crushed Sitra (0-1) on the road with 29-point difference 68-39. Al-Riffa held Sitra to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Sitra 60-39 including a 45-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Slovenian power forward Sasa Zagorac (206-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. International power forward Subah Hussain contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Al-Riffa players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Mansour Kasse (208-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds and the former international guard Hussain Taqi (173-78) added 8 points in the effort for Sitra. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al-Riffa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sitra will play at home against Al-Ittihad (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.
