Regular Season Round 2: Burgos - Baskonia 82-79
Date: October 4, 2018
A very interesting game took place in Burgos. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Baskonia (1-1) to Burgos (1-1) 82-79 in the fight for the sixth place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-18. But Baskonia won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Burgos made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Baskonia's players. Slovenian Vlatko Cancar (201-97, agency: BeoBasket) notched 10 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Branden Frazier (190-92, college: Fordham, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91) did not help to save the game for Baskonia. Danish swingman Shavon Shields (201-94, college: Nebraska) added 12 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Burgos' next round opponent will be Zaragoza (#11) at home where they are favorite.
