There was an upset in Tenerife where Leche Rio Breogan (0-1) was defeated by CB Canarias (1-1) 90-78 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 12 points. CB Canarias shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Georgian guard Thaddus McFadden (188-87, college: Fairmont St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) who scored 26 points and 6 assists. Guinea-Bissau-American center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Ukrainian power forward Volodymyr Herun (208-94, college: Portland) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian point guard Aleksandar Cvetkovic (188-93, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Four Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias will face Blusens Monbus (#3) in Santiago de Comp in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leche Rio Breogan will play on the road against Gran Canaria (#17) in Las Palmas and hope to win that game.
