Regular Season Round 2: Valencia - Real Madrid 70-88

Date: October 5, 2018
There was no surprise when Valencia Basket (0-2) was defeated at home by Real Madrid (2-0) 88-70 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Valencia Basket was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Valencia Basket to just 5 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Valencia Basket 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international point guard Sergio Llull (190-87) who scored 17 points and 6 assists. American-Slovenian Anthony Randolph (211-89, college: LSU) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid will face Unicaja Malaga (#5) at home in the next round. Valencia Basket will play against UCAM Murcia (#15) and hope to win that game.
