Quite upsetting was HLA Alicante's home defeat in a game versus Girona Basquet 61-57. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But HLA Alicante won fourth quarter 11-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Robert Cosialls fired 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Alfonso Alzamora (206-79) chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Girona Basquet's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) produced 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Guinean forward Cheick Sekou Conde (203-92) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Girona Basquet will meet at home Menorca (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. HLA Alicante will play against La Roda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
