Regular Season Round 4: Melsele - Gembo BBC 76-69

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Gembo BBC (2-1) on the court of sixth ranked Melsele on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Melsele 76-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gembo BBC. It was a key game for the second position in the league. They outrebounded Gembo BBC 27-12 including a 21-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Melsele made 19 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Geoffrey Hockins (188-88, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 assists. Swingman Mitchel Gorremans (191-85) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Eli Van-Aken (193-85) replied with 18 points and point guard Anthony Goetgeluck (182-92) added 16 points and 4 blocks in the effort for Gembo BBC. Melsele have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Limburg Utd B. Gembo BBC at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. They share it with Giants B and Oxaco. Melsele is looking forward to face league's leader Waregem on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gembo BBC will play against Royal Brussels (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
