Regular Season Round 1: PAOK - Cretan Kings 81-64

Very important is a road loss of Cretan Kings (0-1) against PAOK (1-0) on Saturday night. Visiting Cretan Kings was defeated by PAOK in Thessaloniki 81-64. The game was mostly controlled by PAOK. Cretan Kings managed to win fourth quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PAOK dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Cretan Kings' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Angolan center Yanick Moreira (211-91, college: SMU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Jamal Jones (203-93, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Travis Daniels (202-92, college: Mississippi St., agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Ukrainian-American guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) scored 19 points. Four Cretan Kings players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. PAOK will meet AEK (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cretan Kings will play against Lavrio and hope to win that game.
