Regular Season Round 1: Plasencia - Baskonia 85-73

Plasencia used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Baskonia 85-73 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Plasencia. Baskonia B was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Plasencia looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American Duane Morgan (198-93, college: Adelphi) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Jose Medina (185-93) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four Plasencia players scored in double figures. At the losing side Slovenian power forward Jurij Macura (203-99) responded with 9 points and 7 rebounds and Lithuanian center Jonas Paukste (215-0) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Plasencia will face Marin (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Baskonia B will play against Zamorano (#1) and hope to win that game.
