Regular Season Round 4: Stade Rochelais - Vitre 45-68

Very significant was Vitre's (#5) 23-point road victory against one of their biggest challengers La Rochelle in Group B 68-45. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of La Rochelle. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. Vitre dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to La Rochelle's 24. The winners were led by Vincentian-Canadian forward Lien Phillip (203-89) who scored that evening 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and naturalized Congolese swingman Ted Lissossi (190-90) supported him with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Vitre's coach Mike Gonsalves felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points by Pierre Cellerier (191-97) did not help to save the game for La Rochelle. American-Nigerian forward Stephen Nwaukoni (203-91, college: Hofstra) added 4 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Vitre (3-1) keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with 3 other teams. La Rochelle at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Vitre will play against league's leader JSA Bordeaux on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. La Rochelle will play against Lorient (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
