Regular Season Round 1: Varese Robur - Alba 88-90

An interesting game where Alba (1-0) edged by two points Varese Robur (0-1) 90-88 on Saturday night. Varese Robur was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Alba dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Varese Robur's 20. Power forward Giacomo DellAgnello (200-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Diego Terenzi (190-95) chipped in 19 points. Alba's coach Luca Jacomuzzi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side point guard Simone Ferrarese (184-87) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Jacopo Mercante (197-90) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Varese Robur players scored in double figures. Alba will meet at home Siena Virtus (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Varese Robur will play against USE Basket (#7) in Empoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
