Regular Season Round 1: AZS UMCS - TS Ostrovia 76-67

AZS UMCS used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Ostrow Wlkp. 76-67 on Saturday night. AZS UMCS dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to TS Ostrovia's 16. AZS UMCS forced 21 TS Ostrovia turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Kai James (196-95, college: Florida St.) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Ukrainian forward Kateryna Rymarenko (185-90) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Jenna Burdette (171, college: Dayton) produced 19 points and 6 assists and power forward Jowita Ossowska (182-96) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AZS UMCS will meet AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TS Ostrovia will play against Arka Gdynia and hope to win that game.
