Regular Season Round 1: Ezerzeme - RTU 73-88

There was no surprise when Ezerzeme (0-2) was defeated at home by RTU (1-0) 88-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by RTU. Ezerzeme was better in third quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Martins Berzins (190-92) fired 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Swingman Lauris Berzins (192-97) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Rihards Teirumnieks (175-3) produced 20 points and 4 assists and guard Karlis Poznakovs (180-90) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. RTU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena LU/BS Riga.
