The game between closely ranked teams ended with Kagoshima's (0-4) home loss to Gifu Swoops (2-2) 68-80 on Sunday. Gifu Swoops dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 34. They outrebounded Kagoshima 42-21 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Michael Allison (206-90, college: Maine) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. American Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Kiichi Kawakami (188-95) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and Ibuki Fukuda added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gifu Swoops will face Saitama Broncos (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
