Maccabi T-A (1-0) crushed at home Maccabi Ashdod (0-1) by 44 points 103-59, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. Maccabi T-A dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Ashdod's 16. They outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 44-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Maccabi Ashdod's players. The former international power forward Jake Cohen (208-90, college: Davidson) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and naturalized American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) chipped in 18 points. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import Spencer Weisz (193-95, college: Princeton) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi T-A will face Hapoel Eilat (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Holon and hope to win that game.
