Everything went according to plan when LoKoKo Bisons (1-0) beat on the road Jyvaskyla BA (1-1) 94-88 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. LoKoKo Bisons dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Jyvaskyla BA's 34. They outrebounded Jyvaskyla BA 44-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. LoKoKo Bisons looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Jyvaskyla BA was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Alex Foster (203-94, college: Albany) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Marcus White (198-95, college: Dickinson St.) chipped in 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Henry Boyd (178-99) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Timi Puittinen (193-94) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. LoKoKo Bisons will face HBA-Marsky in Helsinki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jyvaskyla BA will play at home against HyPo (#2) and hope to win that game.
