An interesting game where Mataro Parc (#8) beat host Arxil Pontevedra (#7) 64-53 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Mataro Parc. Arxil Pontevedra managed to win third quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Arxil Pontevedra to just 5 points in first quarter and to 14 points in first half. American guard Judy Jones (175-90, college: Grand Canyon) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and center Olga Ruano (191-88) chipped in 8 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Janae Williams (183-95, college: Coker) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Gala Mestres (185-94, college: Mount Royal) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Mataro Parc will meet at home GDKO Bizkaia (#4) in the next round. Arxil Pontevedra will play against Real Celta Vigo (#6) and hope to win that game.
