But La Roda was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Alicante 86-69 on Wednesday night. HLA Alicante dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to La Roda's 28. The best player for the winners was Guinean forward Cheick-Sekou Conde (203-92) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Slovakian point guard Vladimir Nemcok (183-95, college: Oklah.Baptist) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. HLA Alicante's coach Pedro Rivero used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Oscar Herrero (182-87) produced 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Jose Gonzalez (187-94) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HLA Alicante will face Menorca (#10) in Mahon in the next round. La Roda will play at home against Azuqueca and hope to win that game.
