Valur (1-1) recorded a loss in Hafnarfjordur. Visitors were defeated by Haukar (1-1) 75-63. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Valur was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar forced 19 Valur turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Sigrun Olafsdottir (170-1) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Brooke Johnson (183-96, college: UNLV) replied with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Gudbjorg Sverrisdottir (180-92) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Haukar will play against Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round. Valur's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik KR.
