Regular Season Round 1: Vilpas - BC Nokia 75-69

We should mention about the upset which took place in Salo, where BC Nokia (0-1) lost to Vilpas (1-1) in a road game 69-75 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-69. Vilpas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international Juho Nenonen (202-87, agency: Blacktop Management) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Diante Baldwin (180-94, college: NC-Greensboro) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Vilpas' coach Joonas Iisalo used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Sean O'Mara (208-95, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four BC Nokia players scored in double figures. Vilpas will meet at home Lapuan Korikobrat (#7) in the next round. BC Nokia will play against UU-Korihait and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
