Regular Season Round 2: Haukar - IR 66-84

The most surprising game was a loss of Haukar (1-1) in Hafnarfjordur on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by IR (1-1) 84-66. The game was mostly controlled by IR. Haukar managed to win second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IR forced 19 Haukar turnovers and outrebounded them 47-32 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Haukar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (202-84, college: Tenn-Martin) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Justin Martin (198-90, college: SMU) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four IR players scored in double figures. IR's coach Borche Ilievski used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Hilmar Henningsson (194-0) replied with 18 points and American forward Marques Oliver (201-91, college: Delaware St.) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Haukar. IR is looking forward to face Breidablik (#10) in Kopavogur in the next round where they are favorite. Haukar will play on the road against Tindastoll (#3) in Sauoarkrokur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
