Regular Season Round 2: Ura Basket - Vilpas 81-88

No shocking result in a game when Vilpas (3-1) beat Ura Basket (1-2) in Kaarina 88-81 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Ura Basket won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vilpas made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. American forward Jamie Skeen (203-88, college: VCU) notched 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import guard DJ Fenner (198-93, college: Nevada) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Vilpas players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) did not help to save the game for Ura Basket. Senegalese-American power forward Malik Dime (206-92, college: Washington) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks for the hosts. Ura Basket's coach Juho Kailio rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vilpas will meet Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ura Basket will play against Kouvot (#10) in Kouvola and hope to win that game.
