Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Gran Canaria II (4-0) beat on the road 12th ranked Rivas (1-3) 89-81 on Saturday. Gran Canaria II made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Finnish forward Thor Bjerregard (199-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and Romanian power forward Cristian Uta (211-97) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Gran Canaria II players scored in double figures. At the losing side Eduardo Martinez (193-96) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Pablo Marinan (200-86) scored 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gran Canaria II have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Guadalajara. Loser Rivas dropped to the eleventh place with three games lost. Gran Canaria II will face Casvi (#13) in Villaviciosa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Rivas will play on the road against Liceo Frances in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
