There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Kumamoto V. (4-2) lost to sixth ranked Nishinomiya S. (1-5) in Hyogo 70-83 on Saturday. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Mexican center AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. West is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Nishinomiya S.'s coach Miodrag Rajkovic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Kumamoto V.Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S. maintains sixth place with 1-5 record, which they share with Ehime OV and Aomori Watts. Loser Kumamoto V. dropped to the second position with two games lost. Nishinomiya S. will face again league's second-placed Kumamoto V. at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
