A very close game took place in Nokia between Joensuun Kataja and BC Nokia. Joensuun Kataja (1-0) got a very close victory on the road over BC Nokia (1-2). Joensuun Kataja managed to escape with a 2-point win 88-86 on Saturday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But BC Nokia won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International guard Ilari Seppala (188-93, agency: Blacktop Management) notched 28 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and international Topias Palmi (194-94, agency: Blacktop Management) supported him with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds by American power forward Sean OMara (208-95, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) did not help to save the game for BC Nokia. His fellow American import swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Four BC Nokia players scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja will meet UU-Korihait (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BC Nokia will play against Kauhajoki (#1) and hope to win that game.
