Regular Season Round 1: B.Cearense - Flamengo 54-73

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of SKY/Basquete (0-1) in Aldeota on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Flamengo (2-0) 73-54. Flamengo dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to SKY/Basquete's 22. They outrebounded SKY/Basquete 50-37 including 35 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. The former international center Anderson Varejao (211-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Alex Oliveira (196-83) answered with 15 points and center Douglas Kurtz (213-87, college: Hawaii) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for SKY/Basquete. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flamengo is looking forward to face Vivo/Franca (#3) in Sao Paulo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. SKY/Basquete will play on the road against Mogi (#5) in Mogi das Cruzes and is hoping to win this game.
