Regular Season Round 4: Gandia - Jairis 67-71

There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Jairis (1-1) beat on the road top-ranked Gandia (1-1) 71-67 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in Group E-B. Strangely Gandia outrebounded Jairis 40-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Jose Varo (193-93) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and forward Jorge Lledo (203-80) who added 17 points during the contest. At the losing side point guard Joaquin Rodenas (186-90) responded with 19 points and Nigerian-American Sultan Aminu (198, college: Ramapo, agency: Epic Sports Consulting LLC) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Gandia's coach Victor Rubio let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Jairis left bottom position moving up to second place in Group E-B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Gandia. Jairis will face L'Alfas (#4) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round. Gandia will play at home against Benidorm and hope to win that game.
