Regular Season Round 4: Algeciras - Utrera 75-56

Date: October 13, 2018
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Algeciras and 5th ranked Utrera had identical 1-0 record. This time Algeciras used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from Utrera 75-56 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group D-B. Algeciras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Utrera's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Christian Manoli (196-92, college: Carnegie Mellon) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Andrew Kelly (201-91, college: Alaska-Fairb.) who added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Algeciras players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Francisco-Javier Marquez (203-99) responded with 17 points and forward Jose-Ignacio Giraldez (200-97) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Algeciras (2-0) keeps a position of Group D-B leader, which they share with DKV San Fernando and Cordobasket. Loser Utrera dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. Algeciras will face DKV San Fernando (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Utrera will play against Caceres and hope to win that game.
