Regular Season Round 5: Gravelines - Monaco 74-65

Date: October 13, 2018
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque and 12th ranked Monaco had identical 2-2 record. This time Gravelines-Dunkerque used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Monaco 74-65 on Saturday night. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gravelines-Dunkerque made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville) who scored 13 points and 9 assists. American power forward Taylor Smith (199-91, college: SF Austin) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks. Five Gravelines-Dunkerque players scored in double figures. Hungarian-American power forward Jarrod Jones (207-90, college: Ball St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and international Billy Ouattara (194-92, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Monaco's coach Saso Filipovski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gravelines-Dunkerque (3-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Monaco keeps the twelfth position with three games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque will face higher ranked Le Mans (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Monaco will play against Chalons-Reims (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
