The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Catz Lappeenranta (2-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by HyPo (2-1) 79-60. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-60. HyPo had a 37-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Randi Brown (170-96, college: New Orleans) who led her team to a victory with 28 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. HyPo's coach Miikka Sopanen used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sydney Wallace (175-93, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 29 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Catz Lappeenranta. HyPo is looking forward to face Torpan Pojat (#10) in Helsinki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Catz Lappeenranta will play on the road against Tapiolan Honka (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
