Regular Season Round 2: HNMKY - ToPo Juniorit 86-62

HNMKY used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Helsinki 86-62 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by HNMKY. ToPo Juniorit was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. HNMKY dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to ToPo Juniorit's 30. HNMKY forced 23 ToPo Juniorit turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Jesper Granlund (195-0) who scored 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Sakari Laakso (194-97) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four HNMKY players scored in double figures. Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (191-81) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and American forward HL Coleman (202-74, college: Wyoming) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HNMKY will face Oulun NMKY (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ToPo Juniorit's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena HBA-Marsky.
